My parents felt the earthquake they live in Nafpaktos not far from the center of the earthquake and got very scared!As many other people did too!!!They felt many other earthquakes after that one!They are still frightend!

A few seconds before the tremor occured, I could feel somehow a "weird silence". Then a loud noise begun and everything started swaying. On the local tv stations, it is reported that electricity and telecommunication cuts happened in the Aitoloakarnania prefecture.

Didn't last long , about 5 seconds I would say, but there was no warning at all (that little shaking I experience before most big quakes I had witnessed). I guess that is due to the proximity of the epicenter and the shallow depth of the quake. (P and S waves arrived almost together). There was a strong initial motion on east-west axis I believe, and another one more rattling up and down and smaller on the east-west axis (again). (The epicenter is west of my town Galaxidi). Hope that helps a bit.

I live quite far, but on the 5th floor. I often feel earthquakes others don't. This one I felt because I was in bed and there was a characteristic swaying motion for about 5 seconds. Nothing serious in Athens.
