I was on Facebook, and many people I know in Istanbul started posting about it immediately.  It lasted only about 5 seconds.  We did not feel any aftershocks.......

I was in bed, and I felt it jerk, once. I heard people in other flats move about. Some opened doors and went out to the stairwell. One of my cats looked slightly alarmed.

After the initial shock, which only appeared to last several seconds, the airport departure lounge in which I was standing seemed to continue to slightly sway for several minutes afterwards.  Living in UK wee have experienced only slight tremors in the past but this tremor was considerably greater and made more disturbing due to its unexpectedness.
