Witness location : Van (Turkey) (32 km S from epicenter)

I was 27 kms away from the epicenter but it was really hard to stand or walk and many buildings collapsed both in the city center and at the nearby villages. aftershocks were also severe and frightening. from 23.10.2011 ercis, van earthquaqe on, we feel the aftershocks almost in every ten minutes time. My house was a bit damaged at this erathquaqe and after the earthquaqe happened at 09.11.2011 (which was closer to the city center) my house turned out to be a mess, heav cracks, danger of collapse etc. I had to move to another place after this one.

I felt three strong swayings and it seemed to me that in a few seconds the building was going to collapse.I had very strong headache and I couldn't control my motions because of those swayings.It was strange that the epicentre was 150-170 km away from my location.Aftershocks were felt all the following day that I have never experienced before.I felt an earthquake nearly 5-6 times in my life,but this one was the most powerful.

Мы с женой находились в церкви ИОАННА БОГОСЛОВА в Тбилиси, и примерно за 15-20 минут до землетрясения меня посетила мысль - если будет землетрясение, выдержит ли свод (купол) церкви, в тоже время высоко на стене отчётливо проявился лик ПРЕСВЯТОЙ БОГОРОДИЦЫ когда я заметил раскачивающуюся люстру, занервничал и понял, что произошло землетрясение, лик исчез.
