ShakeMapple Project - ShakeOut!
Testing an application that is to respond to an earthquake is inherently difficult, given
the variability and infrequency of seismic events. In order to exercise and test the
ShakeMapple system with a larger number of users in a more realistic
distributed environment, we are planning the "ShakeOut!" test: a count-down to a simulated event at a
pre-determined time. When the counter reaches zero, all the
participating users are asked to create their own seismic event for the ShakeMapple
system to register.
The Test
A web page will display a count-down timer, counting down to the time of the simulated event. |
When the timer reaches zero, shake your laptop (or the table it is sitting on) for a few seconds to simulate the strong motion of an earthquake. |
Afterwards, the submitted PGA results will be displayed on a map page. |
