About an hour before the earthquake occurred, I had a strong internal feeling that something was going to happen. I suddenly thought about death and felt an urge to pray Asr prayer — as if it might be my last chance. There was no obvious external reason, just a deep sense of unease and urgency. Then, almost exactly an hour later, the earthquake hit, and I felt the chair I was sitting on shake. This was the first time in my life I had ever experienced an earthquake, and also the first time I ever had such a strong premonition about something like this.
