We were staying just outside Labuan Bajo on Flores Island. We were asleep when the earthquake began at 5.58am. Initially, we were startled by the noise (the tin roof, concrete walls and wooden roof frame all vibrating). Within seconds, the entire villa was shaking, leaving the walls cracked and parts of the ceiling broken away. Tiles in the bathroom came off the walls. I read that the quake lasted around a minute though it seemed to be shorter than that. Could it be that it took some time for us to be woken up?
The aftershocks continued throughout much of the morning. These were in short, seemingly sharp blasts. +1
