We were on the 9th floor of our hotel when we felt it. The room swayed 6 inches in either direction. Woke up everyone in our hotel. Most remained calm, but there were a few that were borderline panicking. We all made it! Happy New Year!

We live in an 4 stories high, 18 apartments building. This stucture was built in the 1920's. Most of the tenants were waken by the shaking of their beds. Those of us who 
were awake (ex.watching tv)were fearfully surprised by feeling shaking on our sofa and seeing our hanging artwork swaying. It was truly sad that the news regarding this natural but possible dangerous natural phenomenon were transmitted 40 -45 minutes after said earthquake ocurred.

I am staying at the Radisson Ambassador Hotel in San Juan. I am on the 8th floor. Was in bed watching tv when I felt irregular shaking. It came softly at first then got progressively worse. TV shook and the glass in the dividing panel wall was shaking. It subsided after about only 10-15 seconds. Haven't felt an aftershock.
