At first I thought the nearby power station may have had something sinister happen but then it continued to shake for several seconds more and intensified in the middle0

The first one I've ever felt and a shock to feel one here in guernsey. There was a loud bang/rumble and it literally felt like a bus had smashed into the side of the office, the building shook and ground under me felt like jelly. The people from downstairs knocked on our door and asked if we had dropped anything heavy as it just felt like something massive had been dropped. It was only a few minutes after that it sank in that it had actually been an earthquake.0

Saint Peter Port (Guernsey)
For an island that doesn't feel earthquakes or is effected by earthquakes, this was a really scary experience. Although it's a small quake it was an experience I hope not to have again. 0
Guernsey
Never been so scared 0
Guernsey
Sounded much louder than when they detonate any mines found along the seashore. All light fittings shook. Sounded like a massive explosion and the ground shook.0

Heard before felt0

Reports of the biggest earthquake the channel islands has had in over 100 years at around 4.6-4.9 on the scale. Apparently, most felt in Guernsey, despite the epicentre being closer to Jersey.. I myself find it odd as there are no tectonic plates near us.. we experienced a small shake a year ago.. but that was barely noticable and certainly didn't shake or boom like this one had.. our island has gone into meltdown! To see more, maybe check Island FM or the Guernsey Police Page for more!0

During the horrific earthquack in Guernsey we were left picking up the garden chairs which may or may not have fallen over during the carnage. This is defiantly one for the history books.0
